Personal Development
At Walberton and Binsted Primary School, we see personal development and enrichment as a vital part of helping every child to grow in confidence, character and curiosity. We provide a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom, including music, sport, clubs, leadership roles such as our School Council, and a rich programme of visits and excursions.
These experiences help children discover new interests, develop resilience, build positive relationships and understand the wider world around them. We place particular importance on ensuring that all pupils, including those who are disadvantaged or who may face barriers to learning, are able to access and enjoy these opportunities.
Our programme of visits and excursions is carefully planned to enrich the curriculum, broaden children’s experiences and create memorable moments that support their personal development.

We also place great importance on high-quality play as a key part of children’s personal development. Through play, children learn to cooperate, communicate, problem-solve, take safe risks, show creativity and build positive relationships with others. We believe that well-resourced and well-supported play helps children develop confidence, resilience, independence and a strong sense of belonging.
