Y4 - Japan Children's Day - May 2024

Year 4 had a fantastic day last Friday celebrating the end of their Japan topic.

They started the day with Radio Taiso (morning exercises) and tried their hand at origami again, although without the expertise of the lovely Japanese ladies who visited us recently, this did prove very tricky!

Throughout the day, the children worked in groups to make vegetable noodle stir fry and really enjoyed the challenge of trying to eat these with chop sticks!

They found out about how the Japanese celebrate children’s day and made their own Koinobori (Koi carp flyers) as well as learning about the famous Japanese artist Hokusai who created the print picture called ‘The Great Wave’.

A big thank you to Mrs Jerome who supported the children with cooking and to Mrs and Mrs Stevens who kindly donated some lovely resources for the day including a beautiful set of chopsticks for all the children to take home and keep.

Everyone had a great day!
